Students will have an interview and take an assessment test in order to be placed in the appropriate level. Each level has 10 classes as defined below.
We teach all levels from Beginner to Advanced for people with any language background:

Beginner classes have 4 levels: B1, B2, B3, B4— 40 classes

We also have Advanced Conversational classes.
Topics include Business Portuguese, Brazilian Law, and others tailored to students’ interests and goals.
BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED LEVELS
As students progress from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced levels, their progress is noticeable in communicating with native Portuguese speakers. Each level has 10 classes as defined below.
Beginner Level 1 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – B1 and B1S
Course description: This course focuses on giving students’ ability to express themselves in Portuguese in the Present, Present Continuous and Immediate Future tenses of the Indicative. It also gives them ability to use “may/might” when asking for help or permission.
Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to express themselves in daily situations, restaurants and shops and make future plans.

Beginner Level 2 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – B2 and B2S
Course description: This course focuses on the Simple Past (Preterite) Tense. Students will also practice vocabulary for renting a house or an apartment, time, numbers and situations when it is necessary to ask for information. Students will also have the knowledge or prepositions of place.
Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to express themselves using the Simple Past (Preterite)Tense. They will have the ability to ask for information and will also have the knowledge of types of houses, apartments in Brazil and renting option.
Course requirement: Beginner Level 1 or the student should take an assessment test to measure his knowledge of Present, Present Continuous and Immediate Future Tense, along with some specific vocabulary.
Beginner Level 3 for English Speakers – B3
Course description: This course focuses on vocabulary to describe a person, more verbs in the Simple Past (Preterite) Tense and pronouns – object direct and indirect. Students will learn the difference between Preterite and Imperfect Past Tenses and briefly use it in exercises and basic conversation. The Imperfect Past Tense will be reviewed on the next level, Basic 4 for English Speakers.
Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to describe people, make polite sentences using pronouns. Students will also have basic knowledge of how and when to use the Imperfect Past Tense.
Course requirement: Beginner Level 2 or the student should take an assessment test to measure his knowledge of Present, Present Continuous and Immediate Future and PreteriteTense, along with some specific vocabulary.
Beginner Level 3 for Spanish/Italian Speakers – B3S
Course description: This course focuses on vocabulary to describe a person, more verbs in the Simple Past (Preterite) Tense and pronouns – object direct and indirect. Students will learn the difference between Preterite and Imperfect Past Tenses and will briefly use both in exercises and basic conversation. The Comparative will also be learned.
Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to describe people, make polite sentences using pronouns. Students will also have the knowledge of the Comparative and the Imperfect Past Tense versus Preterite.

Beginner Level 4 for English Speakers – B4
Course description: This course focuses on the practice of the Imperfect Past versus the Preterite, pronouns “mim, comigo, conosco”, verbs with special conjugation in the first person. Students will also learn reflexive and pronominal verbs, superlative and vocabulary regarding traffic signs.
Objectives: By the end of the course, students should be able to speak about the past using both Past Tenses with more confidence. They will also have the knowledge of the use of Reflexive verbs and will learn some vocabulary regarding traffic signs.
Course requirement: Beginner Level 3 or the student should take an assessment test to measure his knowledge of Present, Present Continuous, Immediate Future and PreteriteTense along with some specific vocabulary.
Intermediate Level 1 for English Speakers – I1
Course description: This course focuses on simple future, diminutive, idiomatic expression, irregular and participle verbs. The students will also learn Brazilian cultural aspects such as cities, folklore and history.
Course requirement: Beginner level 4 or take an assessment test to measure the knowledge of Imperfect Past and Preterite.
Intermediate 1 for Spanish/Italian speakers – I1S
Course description: This course focuses on the practice of Imperfect Past versus the Preterite, superlative, simple future, diminutive, reflexive and pronominal verbs. Students will learn more deeply about irregular and participle verbs. Several idiomatic expression, vocabulary regarding traffic signs and Brazilian cultural aspects such as cities, folklore and history will also be studied.
Objectives: By the end of this course, students will be able to talk using the future tense. Express themselves using superlative, diminutive and use several idiomatic expressions. Make sentences using irregular, participle reflexive and pronominal verbs. The students should be able to talk about Brazilian culture.
Course requirement: Beginner level 3 or take an assessment test to measure his knowledge of the Imperfect Past and Preterite.
Intermediate Level 2 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – I2
Course description: This course focuses on Present Subjunctive, adverbs, popular expressions and Brazilian cultural aspects.
Course requirement: Intermediate level 1 or take an assessment test to measure his knowledge of the Imperfect Past, Preterite and Future tenses.
Intermediate Level 3 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – I3
Course description: This course focuses on Imperfect Subjunctive, conditional verbs and sentences and a review of the Imperative. Several idiomatic expressions and cultural aspects such as native Brazilians, Carnaval and songs will also be studied.
Course requirement: Intermediate Level 2 or take anassessment test to measure the knowledge of Present Subjunctive.
Advanced Level 1 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – A1
Course description: This course focuses on Future Subjunctive and several use of prepositions and contractions of prepositions and words. Brazilian cultural aspects and interpretation of texts will also be studied.
Course requirement: Intermediate Level 3 or take anassessment test to measure the knowledge of Present and Imperfect Subjunctive.
Advanced Level 2 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – A2
Course description: This course focuses on compound verbs in the Indicative and Subjunctive tenses. Interpretation of texts, idiomatic expressions, songs and Brazilian cultural aspects will also be studied in this course.
Course requirement: Advanced Level 1 or take an assessment test to measure the knowledge of Present, Imperfect and Future Subjunctive.
Advanced Level 3 for English and also Spanish/Italian speakers – A3
Course description: This course focuses on direct and indirect speech, active and passive voice, personal infinitive and verbs followed by prepositions. Interpretation of texts, songs, proverbs and Brazilian cultural aspects will also be studied.
Course requirement: Advanced level 2 or take an assessment test to measure the knowledge of Present, Imperfect and Future Subjunctive and compound verbs in the Indicative and Subjunctive.
